Wolf! Wolf!

This is a "TAG" game.
Everybody forms a large circle around the person who is "IT"
If there are a lot of children they may hold hands
The person who is "IT" is the "WOLF"
The children then chang, "Wolf! Wolf! What are you doing?"
Then they wait for the WOLF to say some kind of a response
The WOLF may respond by saying something like "Brushing my teeth"
Or he might say I am "washing my hands," or "combing my hair," and so forth
BUT, if the WOLF replys with "CHASING YOU!"
The kids must scatter so that they won't be tagged by the WOLF
The first person who gets tagged becomes the new wolf

Alphabet Song Game

Sing the alphabet with your child
Skip a letter by pausing, and let your child tell you the letter that is missing
This is a great way for your child to learn there ABC's!!!!!!!
If your child is older you can do the same idea
But have your child print the missing letter on a sheet of paper
You can have a secret word in mind
And as you go through them one verse at a time your child is writing a real words

Bottle Bowling

Items Needed
Empty pop bottles
Paper
Tape
Tennis ball or any other type of ball

Decorate soda bottles with paper to look like bowling pins
Create variations of what a "good" score could be. ...knocking down least amount of pins

Most importantly, enjoy the time together
You can also add a little bit of water to the empty 2 liter bottles
You can also decorate them for holidays/special occasions
Put pumpkins on bottles for Halloween
You can also use a pumpkin to bowl with
You can also add a little bit of water to the empty 2 liter bottles

Musical Chairs

Make a circle or line in the center of the room out of chairs
Start with one less than the number of children playing
Have a music player available, or a whistle
Have the children walk around the chairs following each other
When the music stops, they have to scramble to sit in a chair
The one who doesn't make it sits out
You can always make them the helpers for the music, giving turns as they get out
You continue this until there is one left
You can give them a small reward, sticker, or certificate

Red Light Green Light

Players stand in a straight line about 50 feet from IT
IT turns his back and says "green light," counts to ten, and says "red light" and then turns around
Meanwhile the players have moved as far forward as possible during the "green light"
When IT says "red light" the players must stop
Whomever he sees moving after IT says "red light" and turns around, must return to the starting place
The first person to pass IT wins

Water Balloon VolleyBall

Two teams, each team gets a sheet
Everyone on the team holds a corner or side of the sheet
Put a water balloon on the sheet
Using lots of teamwork, bounce the balloon on the sheet until you can flip it over the net
The other team must catch it in their sheet and flip it back
For smaller groups of children, use a smaller sheet
Even a small tablecloth would work

Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn around
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, touch the ground
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, show your shoe
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, that will do!
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, go upstairs
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, say your prayers
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn out the lights
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, say good-night!
The children jump rope while they sing this rhyme
They act out the actions as the words come up in the rhyme
This can be used as a fingerplay song, or a jump rope rhyme!

Here is a fun way to learn math and have a snack at the same time
You Will Need

Large bowl of snack
Animal crackers
Raisins
Popcorn etc
Napkins or small bowls
One die, with dots or real numbers

Place the large bowl in middle of table
Give each player a napkin or small bowl
Youngest player rolls die, first
They take as many pieces of the snack as the die says
Parents can help count for very young kids
Person to the left goes next around the table until the snack is all distributed

Now EAT!

Variations

Use two dice and have kids count larger numbers
Use two dice and have kids write down the number on each die and add
Guess what will be rolled prior to rolling die, or dice
If one child gets a great deal more than another child, each child can count how many snack pieces they have and figure out how many more child A has than B
The difference can then be divided
One child can play by rolling die, dice and counting out how much of his/her individual portion to eat
Then roll again and again, until the snack is finished
Two dice can be used for addition, also

Splish, Splash, Sploosh

This game is played a lot like duck, duck, grey duck
But instead of tapping the person on the head, you carry a cup of water and trickle a little bit of the water on each of their heads
Then when the child wants to "grey duck" a child, he dumps the rest of the cup of water on the person's head
This game is fun to play on a hot summer day

Hot Potato

You will need a small ball and a whistle or music player
Have your group sit on the floor in a circle
Have the children roll the ball around the circle, or pass with hands, from one child to the next as fast as possible
Give a sticker, or small reward to the child who is caught with the ball
Try to stop the music so that each child gets a reward

Optional

You can play where the child who is caught holding the ball has to sit out until there is one child left who gets the reward

Duck, Duck, Goose

This old favorite is a great game for when you have extra time on your hands
Sit in a circle
Choose one person to be the goose
The goose goes around the circle tapping each child on the head while saying "duck, duck..." until he/she taps someone saying "goose"
The new goose has to catch the old goose before they sit back in the circle
If the new goose catches the old goose, then the old goose continues to be "it"
If the new goose doesn't catch the old goose then they becomes it
Try to make sure no one is "it" more than 3 times in a row
