Drinks And Shakes

Purple Cow

1/4 cup grape juice
1 cup milk
1 banana, sliced
Mix above ingredients in a blender

Peanut Butter Shake

1 cup milk
1 ripe banana
1 Tbsp. creamy peanut butter
Blend together for a delicious high protein drink

Banana MilkShake

1 cup milk
1 banana, sliced
Blend milk and banana together for a delicious milkshake
3-4 oz. servings


Orange Delight

1/4 cup orange juice concentrate
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup milk
Blend ingredients together in a blender
A banana can be substituted for the yogurt

Strawberry MilkShake

1 cup milk
1/2 ripe banana, slice
3 - 5 de-stemmed strawberries
Blend together for a yummy milkshake
Add a raw egg to the drink and make a nutritious breakfast drink
Makes 2-4 oz serving


PineApple MilkShake

1 cup unsweetened pineapple juice
1 egg (optional)
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup instant nonfat dry milk
1 small banana, sliced
Blend ingredients together in a blender and serve
Makes 4 - 4oz servings

Banana Power Shake

2 bananas - frozen, cut in thirds
1c. milk -8oz.
1pkt carnation instant breakfast mix, any brand or flavor)
Place in blender till frozen ingredients are crushed


Orange Power Shake

1 ice tray of frozen Orange juice
2 bananas
1 4oz vanilla yogert
Place in a blender until the frozen ingredients are crushed



Unbaked P'Nut Butter Cookies

1 cup sugar
1 cup white corn syrup
2 cups peanut butter
4 cups Special K cereal


Combine sugar and syrup
Boil for one minute
Add peanut butter
Add cereal
Drop from a teaspoon onto waxed paper
Let cool


Funny Face Carrot Salad

2 carrots
1 small can crushed pineapple
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
Raisins
Peel carrots
Roll up a few long shavings and save them for "hair" on a final salad
Grate carrots with a grater
Be careful of your fingers
Drain can of crushed pineapples in a strainer, using a spoon to push out the juice
Toss pineapple with carrots, then add vanilla yogurt.
Spoon some salad onto a plate
Make a smiling face with raisins
Style carrot "hair" and serve with a smile


Peach Crisp

4 or 5 fresh peaches
1 cup Grape Nuts
1 tsp. butter
1/4 cup apple juice concentrate
1 tsp. cinnamon
Peel, core and dice peaches
Place in a greased pie plate
Stir in Grape Nuts and cinnamon
Top with dabs of butter
Bake 350 for 25 minutes
Serve warm, plain, with milk or with peach yogurt on top
Makes 10-12 small servings


Fruit Leather

Peel and core 5 cups fresh fruit
Blend it in a blender
Then heat it in a sauce pan
Add spices if you wish such as cinnamon, etc.
Blend a second time
Pour fruit puree onto a cookie sheet that has been spread with saran wrap
Spread the puree the best way you can
A plastic egg turner works great
Bake it in the oven at 150 for 8 hours

Apples, plums are sweet enough as they are
You might try blending a ripe banana with pears, apricots and berries
When fresh fruit is non-abundant, you can use nonsweetened apple sauce
Heat it in a pan, add some cinnamon
Then blend it in a blender and spread it on a cookie sheet
Wrap the cookie sheet with saran wrap
For a crunchy treat
Sprinkle 1 cup Grape Nuts over your fruit puree before you bake it
Results in a crunchy fruit leather that kids like


Chinese Noodle Doodles

1 cup unsweetened carob chips
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 (5oz) can Chow Mein Noodles
1/2 cup apple juice concentrate
1 tsp. vanilla
Melt and stir together the top four ingredients in the top of a double boiler
Add noodles
Stir carefully breaking up noodles
Gradually coat them with the carob mixture
Drop by spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet that has been covered with waxed paper
Let doodles harden in the refrigerator

Variation:

Instead of noodles you could use 2 cups of Grape Nuts
Or crumbled minisized shredded wheat or wheat berries


Jello Pops

3 oz. package of Jello, flavored gelatin
1 cup hot water
2 cups any juice, should complement jello
Small, (3 oz paper cups, 12
12 craft sticks (wooden)
muffin tin
1.
Boil water and mix until jello is dissolved
Add juice

2. Place paper cups in muffin tin, less spilling this way
3. Pour mixture into cups.
4. After about an hour insert sticks into cups
Freeze until solid
5. Enjoy


StrawBerry Syrup

1 cup strawberries
1/4 cup apple juice concentrate
Blend together and serve hot or cold over pancakes, etc.


P'Nut Butter And AppleSauce

Spread peanut butter on whole wheat toast and cover with warm applesauce
Sprinkle with cinnamon


Orange Sherbert

12 oz can orange juice concentrate
1/4 cup apple juice concentrate
1 cup non-fat powdered milk
3 1/2 cups water, 2 cans full
Blend ingredients thoroughly in a blender then pour into a baking dish

Place in freezer
Stir thoroughly every hour for 6 to 7 hours
Makes 16-20 small cup servings


Titan Pretzels

1 pkg. yeast
1 1/2 cup warm water, 105-115 degrees
1/2 tsp. sugar, needed for yeast to rise
4 1/2 cups flour
1 egg yolk
2 Tbsp. water
Course salt
Sesame seeds
Dissolve yeast in warm water and add sugar
Add flour and kneed 6 minutes
Let dough rise, covered, in a greased bowl until double in size
Divide the dough into 12 pieces
Let your children roll them into long sticks
Blend together the egg and the water
Have your children brush some of the mixture on to their pretzels
Next let them sprinkle on some course salt or sesame seeds
Help your children lay their pretzel on a cookie sheet
Some will want theirs twisted to look like a real pretzel
Some will want theirs long and skinny
Others may want to make letters
Bake at 450 for 12 minutes
A crock pot on low is good for keeping pretzels warm
Makes 12 pretzels
Long stick pretzels are fun to dip into sandwich spreads
Place a serving of deviled ham, egg salad, tuna salad, etc. on a plate
Let your children dip and eat


Banana Pops

Bananas
Popsicle sticks
Lemon juice
Grape Nuts
Stick banana halves into popsicle sticks
Dip bananas into a mixture of 1/2 lemon juice and 1/2 water
Roll bananas in crushed Grape Nuts Place on wax paper and freeze


Monster Banana

1 banana, for body
Peanut butter
Fresh fruit, any kind will do, cut into different shapes
Food coloring
Use peanut butter as a glue
Stick different fruit shapes onto the banana to create your very own creature
Add A drop of food coloring on the fruit to give it that special color
For some added treats try using candy, M+M's, Reese's Pieces, Gumi's, etc.
You can also use whipcream, lowfat and raisins
Make a party of it
Invite some friends over
Have them bring along one of the add-ons to be used
Fun, tasty, yummy and healthy

Fish In The River

2 Celery stalks
1/4 cup cream cheese or other cheese spread, tinted green if desired
8 Goldfish crackers
Trim and wash celery and fill with cheese
Top with crackers and enjoy

No-Bake Peanut Squares

1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup white sugar
1 cup peanut butter
4 cup corn flakes
4 cup cherrios
1 cup peanuts
1. In a 2 qt. pan melt together just until smooth the first three ingredients
Stir constantly
Do not boil

Warning:
Don't use glass pan on top of electric stove!
2. Remove from heat
3. Measure the last three ingredients into a large bowl
4. Pour over peanut butter mixture
5. Stir, coating cereal and nuts
6. Spread into buttered large pan
Cut into squares
7. Press down
8. Enjoy


Ants in the Sand

2 Graham crackers
Chocolate sprinkles
Place graham crackers in a plastic sandwich bag
Crush them with a rolling pin
Add a few chocolate sprinkles to make ants
Seal the bag
Give them to the kids to take outside and eat
Or let them pour it into a small bowl and eat at the table
For fun let them use their fingers

Variations:

Add raisins and call them beetles
Or Add red hots and call them ladybugs
Or Add mini chocolate chips and call them spider eggs

Rainbow Celery

Jar
Celery
Foodcoloring
Water
Knife
Instructions:

Put water and foodcoloring in jar
Put celery in jar
Let set over night
Remove from water
Let an adult cut celery at bottom


Cat's Eyes

1/2 c Peanut butter
8 Ritz crackers
1 Banana; cut into 8 slices
8 Raisins
Spread peanut butter on crackers
Top each with a slice of banana.
Place a raisin in center of each banana to form a cat's eye

Repeat for all banana topped crackers

Simple Easy Meal

For those who have kids who don't like to sit down to fancy meals
Take a cupcake pan and place diced onion,carrots and potatoes in each section
Then place a ball of raw meatloaf mix or just plain hamburger in each
Place in oven at 350 degrees til meat is just done
Put a quarter slice of cheese on each one
Return to oven long enough to melt cheese
Can be stored in freezer and heated in microwave as needed


Easy Crust

1/2 tsp salt
A pinch of baking powder
1 cup white flour
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
Stir dry ingredients in a bowl
Cut in the shortening and then add 1/2 of the water
Stir mixture with a fork
Add more water only if necessary to work in flour
Add cheese and knead together
You can use this crust for many cooking projects


Apple Pies

Roll out cheese pie crust and cut out 4" circles, squares or triangles
In a small bowl, grate up an apple that has been pared and cored
Add 1 mashed banana and a sprinkle of cinnamon
Stir together
Place a small amount of the apple mixture in the center of each pie crust piece
Have your children bring the sides together and pinch them shut
Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees


Dog-In-A-Blanket

Cut the cheese pie crust in strips and wrap it around a whole or half of a hotdog
Or you can use Little Smokey's
Bake at 350 until crust is light brown


Cheese Twists

Use your leftover pie crust and make cheese twists
Roll the dough out and cut into strips
Twist the strips around and bake at 350 until crust is done
Before baking
You can also brush these with an egg yolk and water mixture
If you like, sprinkle on some sesame or sunflower seeds


Yogurt PopSicles

1 cup plain yogurt
1 bana, sliced
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup fruit juice or fruit chunks
Favorites:
Orange juice or peach

Blend ingredients together and pour into small paper cups
Freeze
Place a plastic spoon or popsicle stick in each cup when yogurt mixture is half frozen
To serve, turn cup upside-down
Run hot water over it until the popsicle slips out
Let children keep the cups to use as a holder
Makes 4-5 small popsicles


Pumpkin Nuts

Save the seeds when you clean out your Halloween Jack-o-lantern
Rinse the seeds
Melt 3 or 4 Tbsp. butter or margarine in a pan
Add a dash of Worchestershire sauce
Mix together with the seeds
Spread out on a cookie sheet and sprinkle them with a little salt
Bake at 350 until the seeds are brown and crispy
Stir from time to time
Roasted pumpkin seeds are eaten shell and all
